Dr. Emily Bailey, Psy.D

Hello, my name is Emily Bailey! I obtained my Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Georgia College and State University and my Master’s of Science degree in Psychology (with a clinical focus) from Augusta University. I recently graduated from Mercer University with my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

Throughout my career as a graduate student, I primarily focused on working with children and adolescents who presented with anxiety disorders using cognitive-behavioral therapy. I gained experience in a variety of clinical settings (e.g., Child Advocacy Center, private practice, an adolescent residential unit, autism clinics, and medical settings). Within these settings, I had the opportunity to work with individuals of diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Given that one of my primary areas of interest is how parents influence child mental wellness (and how children influence parents mental wellness), I ensured that my training allowed for the development of clinical skills in this area throughout my work experience.

I have extensive experience in treating anxiety disorders, depression, and health-related concerns with evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).

My pre-doctoral internship was at Nystrom & Associates, Ltd. in Woodbury, Minnesota and Apple Valley, Minnesota. At Nystrom & Associates, Ltd, I honed my diagnostic evaluation and assessment skills. Throughout my time at this placement, I recognized the importance of incorporating assessment and thorough diagnostic evaluation into the care of my patients, as this facilitated increased understanding of the presenting concern and provided the opportunity for better outcomes.

My passion for treating anxiety disorders and OCD only grew when I began my postdoctoral fellowship at the Harvard-affiliated McLean OCD Institute at Houston. During my time at McLean, I was able to further develop my abilities to treat individuals with OCD and anxiety disorders through helping people approach (rather than avoid) their fears and create a more meaningful and values-driven life. I was able to treat individuals struggling with OCD and anxiety disorders at varying levels of care during my postdoctoral fellowship including: outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential.

Recently, I moved back home to Atlanta where I began my private practice. I completed specialized training such as the SPACE Treatment (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions), Advanced SPACE Treatment (ARFID and Failure to Launch), and the TLC’s Virtual Professional Institute for Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviors.

I am excited to continue to provide services in the Atlanta area virtually and in-person to individuals who would like to face their fears and meet their goals in relation to their anxiety and OCD. I also look forward to providing services virtually to individuals living in PsyPact states, such as Texas, Minnesota, Alabama, and many more (for more information: https://psypact.site-ym.com/page/psypactmap )
